From the period sources

The works of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach were studied by later musicians, as evidenced by Ernest-Frédéric Baumgart, a professor of organ and music theory at the Breslau musical institute, who became known for publishing an edition of “Philippe-Emmanuel Bach’s” harpsichord compositions (Biographie universelle des musiciens, 1880). Bach also served as a teacher to notable figures such as Jean-Henri Cario, a musician and tower watchman at St. Catherine’s Church in Hamburg, who studied under Bach, Telemann, and Schwenke (Biographie universelle des musiciens, 1837). Another pupil, Jean-Pierre-Théodore Nehrlich, a pianist and composer, made rapid progress on the piano under Bach’s instruction in Hamburg (Biographie universelle des musiciens, 1837). After Bach’s death, his extensive musical collection, including many manuscripts, was acquired by Georges Poelchau, who established one of the finest private musical libraries of his time in Hamburg (Biographie universelle des musiciens, 1866).
