From the period sources

According to A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900 and 1905), Johann Buchner of Constance was a distinguished pupil of Paulus von Hofhaimer, who was himself lauded by Cuspinien and Luscinius as an “unrivalled organist and lutenist, and the best composer of the age.” Hofhaimer, who was ennobled by Emperor Maximilian I. in 1515, taught Buchner in Vienna, where Hofhaimer served as court organist and composer.
