From the period sources
Johann Peter Kellner is primarily noted as a teacher, having instructed the significant theorist Johann Philipp Kirnberger at Grafenroda, according to A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900). Kellner also played a role in the musical development of Johann Mattheson, who, as A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1905) records, had his “decided mus. talent… developed by Braunmuller, Pratorius, and Kellner.” Beyond his pedagogical influence, the passages offer no further details about Kellner’s own life or compositions.
