From the period sources

Albert Renaud, born in Paris in 1855, received his musical education from notable figures such as César Franck and Léo Delibes, according to A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900). He served as organist at St.-François-Xavier and also contributed as a music critic for “La Patrie.” His compositional output, as recorded in the same dictionary, included a diverse range of stage works in the 1890s, such as the four-act “féerie” Aladin (1891) and the opéra comique A la Houzarde (1891). Renaud also composed ballets, with The awakened Shepherd premiering in London in 1892 and Rokneddin in Paris the same year, alongside a piece fantastique titled Don Quichotte (1895) and the operetta Le soleil de minuit (1898).
