From the period sources

Pascal Ricci, born in Como in 1755, pursued musical studies under Vignati, a chapel master in Milan, before entering the clergy and taking the title of abbé, though he continued to cultivate music successfully. After traveling through Germany, Holland, and England, Ricci settled in Paris, where he published several of his compositions, according to Biographie universelle des musiciens et bibliographie générale de la musique, Vol. 7 (1837, 1866). He later returned to Como, where he became chapel master and was still active in the late eighteenth century. His published works include violin quartets and trios, noted for their “good facture,” and a piano method titled Méthode ou Recueil des connaissances élémentaires pour le piano-forté ou clavecin, published in Paris in 1788. A Dies irae by Ricci was particularly cited for its “saisissant” (striking) effect.
